The minimum wage will rise above CLP $510,000 in Chile

The minimum wage will rise above $510,000 as of January due to higher inflation and the CUT is preparing a new negotiation for April.

Héctor Osorio, economist and partner PKF Chile, adds arguments for a moderate readjustment. We have to distinguish well and listen to the arguments of the relevant actors, which are the specialists in the labor market and of those who hire for the minimum wage, since they do not do it for lack of generosity, but because doing so threatens their business. That is an element that we cannot forget in this negotiation'.

Osorio warns of the electoral scenario that will already be present in April next year. 'We expect a negotiation loaded with good intentions and also, in some way, biased by the electoral process that is starting', he adds.
